Recap of Cochon 555 Miami 2014

Another Cochon 555 is in the books and this year’s installment didn’t disappoint. Jose Mendin of Pubbelly Group won the title of “Prince of Porc” with his dishes that showcased his culinary range.

The swine-filled afternoon featured delicious bites prepared by the Cochon competitors including Conor Hanlon of The Dutch, Bradley Herron of Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink, Aaron Brooks of EDGE Steak & Bar and Dena Marino of MC Kitchen. Guests also munched on a TarTare Bar by Timon Balloo of Bocce Bar, different ages of Prosciutto di Parma, Hudson Valley Foie Gras, cheeses, meats and oysters.

Just when the crowd though they couldn’t eat anymore, a sixth pig created late-night Asian Speakeasy style by Jason Pringle of db Bistro Moderne arrived along with desserts from Antonio Bachour and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream — and their minds were quickly changed.

Washing down all the pork goodness were vintage ales of Goose Island Beer Co., wines from five different vineyards, a Mezcal and Manhattan bar, and drinks prepared during the “Punch Kings” competition, which crowned Khong River House’s Joshua Holiday as the winner.

A great Sunday indeed.
