Makoto Refreshes Menu with New Dishes

Makoto has been in a staple in Miami’s dining scene since its inception in 2011. Located inside the Bal Harbour shops, Makoto is the brainchild of uber restauranteur Stephen Starr and Executive Chef Makoto Okuwa. The high-end Asian eatery features an array of sushi, robata grill and elevated Japanese classics like its famous Tuna Air Bread and Crispy Rice.

The menu is undoubtedly solid, which is why it doesn’t change too frequently. But recently it was looking to add some dishes to the menu and we got a first taste.

For starters we got to try the Tofu Nameraka — also known as edamame hummus — made with truffle zunda ae and served with a garlic pita. Its a great spin on the traditional pita and hummus dish that is seen everywhere from parties to restaurants.

Heartier dishes include the Aigamo Duck Hoba Yaki make with kojimiso marinated duck for eight days, kumquat and duck fried taro potato along with the Wagyu Katsuretsu Mollefeuille made with pickled Japanese Kabu Turnip, summer truffle and homemade tonkatsu sauce.

All of the above dishes were just added to the menu as of November 2 and plan to be permanent additions. Until you can go try them out for yourself, get a peek at the items below.
