Brunch has always been a meal worthy of a feast, and Southern eatery Bird & Bone’s certainly does not disappoint. Its decadent Sunday feast offers all the trimmings – and bottomless drinks – that any hungry diner could want and we got a first taste.
Signature brunch dishes will include a variety of options from light, healthy dishes to some of the Chef Richard Hales’ heartier options for which he is known. We started with the Avocado Toast & Eggs made with poached eggs, Benton ham bits, pink salt, olive oil, hemp seeds and sprouts, before moving onto the Bird & Bone Eggs Benedict made with poached eggs, Broadbent’s ham, fried green tomato, English muffin, and Alabama hollandaise along with the equally as hearty Biscuits & Gravy made with a cheddar biscuit made by Hales’ wife, along with eggs, sawmill gravy, and cheese heirloom corn grits.
The highlights of our meal though were the Hot Chicken Fried Steak made with breaded beef, hot sauce, white pan gravy, whipped potatoes and bacon & blue wedge – while not a light meal, it was certainly worth the gluttony. Another highlight was the Fried Chicken & Cornbread Waffle made with the restaurant’s popular fried chicken, corn waffle, candied bacon and bourbon syrup.
As for drinks, those keep with the Southern flare as well and we sipped on the Blackberry Bourbon Iced Tea made with Bulleit Bourbon, black tea, blackberry and mint along with the Creamsicle Mimosa filled with prosecco, orange juice, cream and sugar.
Bird & Bone’s brunch is now available every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. so certainly give it a try for yourself, but in the meantime check out the tasty dishes below.
