Michael Pirolo / Macchialina Taverna Rustica

The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step; or in this case one grandmother. Chef Michael Pirolo of Macchialina Taverna Rustica brings a lifetime of Italian cooking experience to your plate.

As a boy Chef Pirolo started making gnocchi with his grandmother and swatting bees while helping make sundried tomatoes in the terrace. He went on to work at several Michelin rated establishments such as La Volia Matta in Bologna and Café Groppi in Piemonte before becoming part of the Pubbelly family here in Miami.

Pirolo describes the cuisine as “classic Italian flavors with rustic accents.” You can expect eats such as Veal Cheek and Pork Meatballs with spicy tomato sauce and confit carrots and his personal favorite the Braised Short Rib Lasagna. Pubbelly welcomed Pirolo into their family and now Pirolo is welcoming you into his Italian family. When you think of family, you think homemade, and that is exactly what you’ll get here. House made Pizzas and Pastas will be created daily.

In describing the Macchialina style he states that “were very serious about what we do, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously.” It’s fun and friendly from the food to the faces you’ll encounter there. And that’s amore.
