Last month, South Beach favorite Drunken Dragon teased a preview of its soon-to-be launched weekend brunch during a special Mother’s Day feast. The lively Korean barbecue go-to hinted to us that this brunch would be a permanent fixture soon and now it’s finally here.
The menu infuses the whimsical, Asian flavors throughout. We started with a Kale Salad tossed in a Buttermilk Miso Ranch, Tomato, Blue Cheese, Hazelnut, House Bacon before we moved onto the heartier dishes. All shareable in nature, the stand outs included the DD Waffle featuring a Cornmeal Waffle, Fuji Apples, Candied Walnuts, Maple Glaze; the very unique Thai Coconut Pancakes with Scallions & Corn, Shaved Fresh Coconut, Nuoc Cham; Taro Truffle Hash made with a 63 Egg, Chinese Sausage, Corn, Snow Peas, Taro Chips; the Cuban Pressed Bahn Mi filled with Pork, Pâté, Sriracha Aioli, Pickle Vegetables, Cilantro along with its take on French toast called the Pain Perdu topped with House-Made Smoked Bacon Bits, Banana Crème, Mix Berry Sauce. Can’t miss sides include the Bacon Steak topped with a Gochugaru Maple Glaze; the Lemongrass Sausage with Gochugaru Maple Glaze, Jaew Sauce, Fontina Cheese and the Umami Biscuits with a Kaffir Lime & Honey Glaze.
Of course, it’s not a proper brunch without a drink (or six) and Drunken Dragon’s new brunch libations certainly didn’t disappoint. Favorites of the group included the Ninja Cuya with Casamigos Blanco, Passion Fruit, Cayenne, Ancho Reyes; the Cucuzaki make with Hiro Sake, Cucumber, Plymouth, St. Germain, Yuzu and the Bloody Dragon made with Grey Goose, Tomato Juice, Kimchi, Red Dragon. A bottomless mimosas option is also available for just $20 with choices of orange, blood orange, mango, lychee, passion fruit or strawberry to mix with your bubbly.
