John McLean / Sono Wood Fired Pizza

Chef John truly understands great food, and combines his passion for cooking with local, seasonal ingredients to dishes that keep loyal customers coming back again and again. Before opening Sono Wood Fired, he was the Chef d’Cuisine of Levy Restaurants for over 25 years, and helped Levy to attain several acclaimed awards. At Sono, he brings that same level of cooking to a menu filled with great traditional Italian food. Not only does he oversee the kitchen, but he also works with local farms for his ingredients, and hand picks every wine listed on the menu. Not only is he such a great chef, but he is a lovely guy who truly enjoys giving people a place to enjoy good food and each other’s company.

Located at 1582 N Clybourn just south of North Avenue directly across from the North/Clybourn red line stop as well as the Apple Store in Lincoln Park. Soft wood tones, exposed brick and a warm glow throughout the room from the blaze of the wood fired oven creates a warm and inviting ambiance. Our bar, handcrafted from oak, adds comfort to the folks sitting at the bar sipping wine from our spectacular 80 bottle wine list. The wood fired oven is on full display. It has been said that the best seat in the house is around the pizza bar where guests can check out the chefs preparing some of the best handcrafted pizzas and fabulous bruschette in the city.
