Jaya Showcases Modern Asian Cuisine in a Posh Setting

The Setai, Miami Beach has been a staple on South Beach since its opening 10 years ago. Since then it has featured several restaurants, but for its 10th anniversary the award-winning property opened a brand new concept, Jaya, featuring regional specialties from Southeast and Northern Asian cultures.

Jaya, which means ‘victory’ in Sanskrit, was chosen by the team to honor of The Setai’s interior designer Jaya Ibrahim. For the menu Executive Chef Mathias Gervais and Executive Sous Chef Vijayudu Veena collaborated to create dishes from Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, India, China and Japan. The menu showcases a mix of longtime Setai favorites including Peking Duck, Naan Breads, Indian Curries, Sea Bass and Dim Sums along with many traditional culinary techniques from wok stations to tandoori ovens.

We got to try out the new menu and some highlights included the Naan Bread with Garlic with Cilantro; Truffle Dumplings with Steamed Scallops and Truffle Cream Emulsion; Pork Belly Bao with Grilled Peach, Cilantro, Chinese Barbecue Sauce; and the Tandoori Sea Bass with Cilantro, Mint, Ginger, Yogurt, Fennel Seeds, Indian Spices. Desserts were certainly not an afterthought however with the Nougat Glace with Biscuit Joconde, Pistachio Powder, Nitro Smoking Cherry Foam and the Almond Bread Pudding made with 10 Spiced Streusel, Whiskey Miso Caramel, Honey Banana Gelato impressing everyone at the table.
